The astronomical and prolific extravaganza can be witnessed from the islands of Ibiza<\/strong> and Formentera<\/strong> again, on the 13th <\/strong>&\u00a014th<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights for lovers of the clear night sky.<\/p>\n

This stunning meteor shower occurs once a year.<\/p>\n

It happens when earth travels through a cloud of dust, which is left behind from the ‘Comet Swift-Tuttle<\/strong>‘.<\/p>\n

The debris is named the Perseid<\/strong> cloud, which comes from the Greek<\/strong> word Perseidai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Perseidai<\/b> were the sons of Perseus<\/strong>. The heroic ancient-Greek figure, and mythical son of Zeus<\/strong> and Argive<\/strong> princess Dana\u00eb<\/strong>.\u00a0Perseus<\/strong> was also famous for slaying Medusa<\/strong>, in a brutal battle between good and evil.<\/p>\n

Viewable with the naked eye, you can experience something truly remarkable on the night.<\/p>\n

The Perseids<\/strong>\u00a0meteor shower was active from the\u00a0<\/em>7th July, but will continue until around the 24th\u00a0<\/strong>August<\/strong>. Its peak will be this weekend, so don’t miss it<\/strong>!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Expect a glowing shower of otherworldliness, reminding us that were are not the only forces at play in the universe.<\/p>\n

With hundreds of meteors per-hour shooting through the airspace, it’s something unforgettable, and well worth a watch if you’re here.<\/p>\n

It will be clearer to see from the Northern Hemisphere<\/strong> but wherever you are, keep a look out and hope for the best!<\/p>\n

The places with minimal pollution will make for a better sighting.<\/p>\n

The ideal times to see it will be from 10pm on the 12th August, until around 4.30am on the 13th.<\/strong><\/p>\n
